after making elly's hat i realised i needed one for myself. my earmuffs just aren't cutting it at this stage of winter. hence, the pigtail hat was born.
i made this hat for elly out of polar fleece, netting, and ribbon - all burgundy. it has little cat ears and earflaps with ribbons to hold them down for the cold NYC weather. this is the cutest hat ever, i almost want to keep it!
it's been really cold so i whipped together this little polar fleece skirt to keep me warm. i got inspired and did some ribbon detailing, looks cute!
this is a copy of the green camo miniskirt that i made out of a pair of old camo pants that i loved and couldn't part with even though steve hated them. as usual, the skirt is a little too big. i really need to stop that.
made from an old pair of fatigues. a real muff-shower.
i needed a hat that fit over my dreads to keep my ears warm. the problem is that they get cold, and then i get a headache, but no hats will fit! so i made my own. it rules.
i am on a hat roll at this point. pretty easy to make. had to do a few adjustments, but it came out pretty good and looks heartbreakingly cute on s5.
wooo!!! crazy hat! i knew the polar fleece would come in handy for something. this was made with no pattern, i mean it's insanely easy to make a hat like this.
exactly like the one below, but better fiting, shorter and i am really getting the hang of sewing straight. haha.
this is another freestyle skirt, loosely based on a lip service one that i like. now i know how to make belts! the fabric is really pretty.
steve chose this amazing fabric at kwejibo, it's kind of velvety, not too thick but pretty warm. they look so nice! he has worn them every day since they were finished.
it's hard to say how much these cost. maybe $50? more?
this top was made out of the rest of the camo fabric. it's really, really low cut, basically fits just over my bra. i love it!
wow, this top probably only cost like, $3.
i love this skirt! i made it with no pattern. it's quite heavy pink denim, and it flares very pleasingly.
no idea how much this cost. i still have quite a bit of pink denim left!
the bag that comes with me everywhere. i made this freehand and was extremely pleased with how easy it is to make a bag! it was made out of remnants.
it probably cost about $5. the only cost was the zip and the thread, the fabric is from offcuts.
these legwarmers were made with crazy, expensive fake fur fabric and ribbon. the fabric almost killed my machine. sewing fur is hard.
it reckon it cost around $30 to make this legwarmers.
this dress was made freestyle with no pattern. it came out pretty well, it has darts and all! the fabric was horrible to sew - a thin, stretch velvet.
it probably cost $5 to make this dress.
i made this top in the middle of making a long, full skirt out of the chartreuse satin. i didn't have a pattern for this top, but i loosely based it on another one i have that i love.
i estimate that this top cost all of about $11.
steve wanted me to make him cargo pants out of tiger fabric. my first project on my new sewing machine, and already i get a hard one! at first i couldn't get the thread tension right. i broke a needle. this project drove me crazy but it taught me a lot about sewing and my machine, and the look on s5's face when he wore them out for the first time was a reward in itself.
all in all, i think they cost around $85 or $90.
